Do you support Android?

Android compatibility is anticipated for late 2019. We currently sell a Butterfly iQ USB-C version that works with the iPad Pro USB-C models. The USB-C version will work with Android in the future on select devices.

When will shipping begin for the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand?

Shipping will begin as early as Summer 2019. Please reach out to if you have any questions.

What is Butterfly Cloud?

Butterfly Cloud is cloud storage web application intended to allow users of Butterfly iQ mobile app to upload studies to an internet-based storage system. Butterfly Cloud can be purchased for an individual or a team. Both options include unlimited archiving, anonymized sharing, and secure anywhere-access from an iPhone or laptop. Team package has additional administrative and commenting functionality that offers members of the same organization the option to collaborate in real-time.

Is Butterfly iQ available for purchase outside of the United States?

We are shipping to the US already, and will be shipping to the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand as early as Summer 2019. For other countries, reserve yours now and we’ll contact you as soon as Butterfly iQ becomes available in your country.

How is data protected for customers outside the United States?

We will comply with all local in-country privacy and security regulations to ensure that your data is safe and secure. More details will be provided as we get closer to shipping our first devices outside the US.

Who can purchase Butterfly iQ?

Butterfly iQ can be purchased by a physician licensed to practice in the United States in good standing under applicable state law or by the order of such a physician for use in professional practice as authorized by law.

What happens after the first year of subscription?

Your Butterfly iQ will remain functional even without a subscription. You can continue to scan in all 19 applications, but will not be able to upload new images.   You will have full access to all images in the cloud that were previously saved.

How do I contact support?
How do I start and end an exam?

Uploading an image or clip both creates and ends the exam. Once you indicate you are ready to upload, you will be prompted to enter the patient ID and determine study destination.

How do I log into my Butterfly Cloud account for the first time?

Once a Butterfly Cloud administrator has granted you access to the Butterfly Cloud, or you have purchased the Butterfly Cloud, you will receive an email invitation with a link to the URL. Follow the instructions provided in the email to access the Butterfly Cloud and to create your password.

How do I check battery status of my Butterfly iQ?

The battery status is displayed in the upper portion of the imaging screen and on the battery status indicator on the physical probe.

Which disinfecting wipes should I use?

It is recommended that you use Super Sani-ClothⓇ Germicidal Disposable Wipes by PDI, Inc.

How do I update the mobile app software?

Updates to the Butterfly iQ™ App and probe are handled through the Apple App store. Keep your [OS and App] updated to ensure you have the most up-to-date version.

Once I receive my device, how do I begin scanning?

Sign into the Butterfly iQ mobile app using your Butterfly Cloud credentials, attach the probe to your phone, and start scanning.

Will Butterfly iQ drain the battery from my mobile device?

Butterfly iQ has a built-in battery to minimize drawing power away from your mobile device.

Can I perform measurements on my images?

Yes, up to 4 linear measurements and 1 elliptical measurement.

Can I download studies from Butterfly Cloud?

Yes. From your desktop you can download images (.png) and clips (.mp4).

Is internet connectivity required to use Butterfly iQ?

To download, install, or update the Butterfly iQ app, an internet connection is required. An Internet connection is also required to log in and to archive studies to Butterfly Cloud.

Once logged into the app, you can use iQ up to 30 days at a time without connecting to the internet. However, you will be required to reconnect to the internet once every 30 days to check for mandatory updates.

Can I use the Butterfly iQ if I don’t have wifi or cellular connection?

Yes. If you do not have an internet connection, all studies will be saved in an upload queue and will be sent to the Butterfly Cloud once a connection is established.

Is Butterfly iQ rechargeable?

Yes. A wireless charging base is supplied with purchase. Place the iQ on the charger with the battery indicator facing upwards and charging will be complete in less than 5 hours.

What is the battery life of Butterfly iQ?

Butterfly iQ is built to last up to a 10-hour shift or more than 2 continuous hours of scanning.

What is a preset?

Presets are a predefined set of imaging parameter values. When selected, the Butterfly iQ App automatically operates in accordance with the corresponding set of imaging parameter values. Please view our specs page for a description of each preset.
