Access Afya

Access Afya is a primary health startup that has developed a “clinic in a box” model for limited resource settings that delivers chronic care, family planning, lab testing, immunizations, nutrition, pre and post-natal care, general outpatient consultations, first aid and more. They have designed low cost clinics out of shipping containers and deployed them in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya where healthcare was previously close to non-existent.

In partnership with Butterfly, they have launched a TeleGuidance Pilot to expand access to medical imaging in underserved populations. A sonographer remains at a central hub location and leverages Butterfly TeleGuidance to remotely guide clinicians at the outlying Access Afya clinics who lack extensive ultrasound training. This model is breaking new frontiers and revolutionizing the way medical imaging is delivered in limited resource settings.
